Peace Tapestry 2007 Story

By Rev. Jan Chase

Inspired by sarah4hope Peace Tapestry Project,

squares of this peace tapestry were painted at an

Interfaith Gathering of Women in the Los Angeles

area in 2005, facilitated by Ronit Roth.

The next area “Interfaith Gathering of Women” was

organized by Ariella Shira of Covina’s Ami Shalom

Temple and held at the Sanctuary for Spiritual Living

in Covina, CA on March 3, 2007.

There the squares were given to Rev. Jan Chase,

minister of Unity Church of Pomona. She and her

congregation attached the squares to the tapestry

back that had been created for them. They painted

frames around each with the help of people from

the Inland Valley Interfaith Group, a branch of the

Unity-and-Diversity Council in Los Angeles.

The Peace Tapestry graced the sanctuary of Unity Church of Truth Pomona in southern California for about six weeks where it received prayer energy for World Peace.

Rev. Jan Chase then carried it to Unity’s International Convention in June 2007, where it absorbed the peace of our Prayer Room at the Sheraton Hotel in Overland Park, Kansas.

Next this Peace Tapestry found itself in the sacred and prayer-filled vibrations

of Silent Unity’s Prayer Vigil Chapel at Unity Village outside of Kansas City, MO. Being  completely saturated with the energy of “Peace”, it will be ready for its role at Unity's Interfaith World Day of Prayer activities September 12 & 13, as people gather to Pray for World Peace.

Moved to tears by the story of this Peace Tapestry and aware of its potential, Kelly Isola, a Ministerial Student at Unity Village, volunteered to carry this Peace Tapestry to Israel.

In Israel this Peace Tapestry will go full circle as it is delivered to its originator, Ronit Roth; a Peace Activist recently relocated to her native Israel. Ronit intends to use this tapestry as a “Window of Hope for Peace” between Palestinians and Israelis- to heal the wall of fear that separates ONE people.
